Five Apartment Hunting Tips

#1. Clean Apartment

Are you sure your apartment is going to be cleaned before you arrive with your belongings?  Is Mom or Grandma worried about your apartment and have offered to help you clean your apartment?  Meredith's Properties will make sure your apartment is clean by arranging for the services of two professionals: A cleaning service and a dedicated carpet cleaner.  This service is at no additional cost to you and is provided before you move into your selected apartment.  We don't utilize cleaning waivers or expect you to clean a dirty apartment left by the last tenant.  Don't you want a hassle free move in?

#2. Leasing Terms

Signing joint leases and agreeing to pay the obligations of other co-tenants is a questionable practice for you and your family. Asking for an individual lease is a best practice, so that you are only responsible for your personal rent obligation and not the rent obligation of co-tenants.

#3. Fees

Do you really know what you are going to be spending for your housing expense? Sometimes landlords charge separate fees for the various services that they offer. Meredith's Properties does not charge separate fees for the Application, Internet/WiFi, Parking Spaces, or Garbage, Recycling, or Water Services. Be sure to ask what fees and/or services are included in your rent sum and which items have a separate charge or fee separate from your monthly rent payment.

#4. Tour

Make sure you tour the apartment you select to lease, so that you are not surprised on move-in day. Meredith's Properties will show you available apartments and make sure that you visit and have selected the apartment mentioned in the lease.

#5. Tenant Courtesies

Sometimes students find themselves in the shower, studying for a test, or completing a project when a surprise visitor is at their door. Meredith's Properties gives tenants 24 hour notice of a prospective tenant showing of your apartment, a service call by a vendor, or other authorized visit.
